Are there monthly flight quotas?
Nope. Badenflug is a casual flying group with no minimum number of flights required for membership. Inactive members (those with no flights completed for the group over a number of months) may be removed from the group but are always welcome back. :)
What's the pilot pay?
70%. This generous figure keeps most earnings in the pilot's pocket!
I'm new to FSE, can I join?
Of course! Group flying can be quite helpful to learn the FSE ropes. We recommend sticking to the smaller planes while getting used to the system but you'll have a blast!
Do I have to be a member of FSE to fly for Badenflug?
Yep, you can sign up here.
Which aircraft can I fly?
You can fly whatever you enjoy and is appropriate for your payload. Given Badenflug's extensive fleet, you should be able to find the right fit. Flying five passengers in the DC-6B will cost the group quite a bit of money! Using a PC-12 or Baron would be a better choice.
Do I need to only fly to airports with Badenflug FBOs?
Absolutely not! While Badenflug aircraft should stay within the region (Europe), feel free to use a DC-3 to deliver a cargo job to Poland, for example. Keep in mind that most planes have a distance bonus. It's a courtesy to bring them back to base after your flights and you'll get that bonus money returned to you.
How should I refuel my aircraft?
Refueling should primarily be done at Badenflug FBOs to keep fuel costs down. Proper refueling is an art form. You want to make sure to load only as much fuel as required to safely get to your next destination (or the next destination with fuel for sale- don't get stranded!). Loading too much fuel will mean less available room for passengers and cargo.
What can I do with all this empty space in my plane?
So you've rented a plane, refueled, loaded up some passengers, made sure you are flying for the group and you've still got some payload available? That's great! Take a look at your departure airport and see if there are any assignments that you can carry to LSMU, LIME, or LIRA. Drop those assignments off at the hub. This increases the variety of jobs available and therefore the chance for the group to make money off ground crew fees. Every pilot who drops jobs at a hub is helping the group quite a bit. Just don't forget to cancel the assignment from your flight once you get to the hub!
How else can I help out the group?
From time to time, you may notice supply assignments on the ramp at the hubs. If you can carry some of these to their destinations, that would be super! Thanks for helping keep the network supplied!
What should I not do?
Don't worry about making a mistake, for one! We've all completed a flight without loading passengers or forgot to start the FSE client from time to time. It happens. :)
If there's one thing to watch out for, it's booking fees. This is only an issue while flying larger planes full of green passenger assignments but all pilots should understand how they work. Badenflug pays all booking fees and at a certain point (about 30 "green" passenger assignments) these fees will actually cause the flight to cost the group more money than it makes! Obviously this must be avoided! How? It's easy, just don't fly more than 25 green jobs at any one time.
Do you have a Teamspeak server/forum/VATSIM/etc.?
We have a group forum within the FSE forums. We don't have a presence on VATSIM or a Teamspeak server.
